I am a gitlab.com user since 2023 and was using Github before that. I mainly host the content for my blog there, which is publicly available anyway. However, deep in my heart I’m an advocat of self-hosting whereever possible.

I read about their new rate limits which will go live in five days and which were also tested today, while I was using the platform. From my understanding I’m actually not really affected by the changes, but at the same time the platform usage felt weirdly slow. I’m probably imagining things, but this is still a nice reason to look over the edge of the plate (hehe) and set up my own Git instance with a CI/CD system.

I have my eyes on Forgejo for a while now and will install this on my server in the next days. I thought that I also need to look for a new Pipeline provider who will help me run
hugo
and move the files to the proper folder afterwards. But I have just learned that Forgejo Actions are a thing. They can invoke Foregejo Runners who will obediently do as requested.

I’m looking forward to setting this up ヽ(o＾▽＾o)ノ.
